About the Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a cohort model program that trains health professionals through educational programs, research and community service opportunities so that they may have the knowledge and skill necessary to make a substantive contribution to the health of individuals, communities and the environment.

The program prepares students for leadership positions in public health, other public and private health promoting agencies and health care institutions.

Students in the MPH program will choose from one of three emphasis areas: Prevention and Intervention Programming, Data-Driven Decision-Making or Environmental and Occupational Health.

Master of Public Health students must successfully complete at least 42 credit hours of approved coursework, including 16 credits of foundational coursework and the requirements of their chosen emphasis area (view more information below). The Master of Public Health program aims to provide every student with access to community-based research and service opportunities. Students also support the coordination of health-oriented events where they can network with healthcare professionals from a wide variety of organizations.
